Louisiana Governor Establishes Special Fund to Aid Victims Of Katrina
BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- As the world reacts to news of disaster wrought by Hurricane Katrina, the outpouring of sentiment and support is mounting from Americans to assist those in dire need.
"We have a monumental problem and must rely on the kind and generous acts of our fellow Americans", said Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, from her disaster command operations in Baton Rouge. "We applaud gifts being given to our disaster aid partners worldwide and want those who wish to give directly to our effort here to have the option for this direct, immediate impact."
The governor has established this foundation to focus on long-term recovery, to collect and distribute donations to private and public entities for disaster relief for losses and/or damages brought on as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
